There is still time to apply for the Camara Africa 2008 teaching program. If you are interested in teaching basic computer literacy in Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Lesotho, Kenya, Zambia or Rwanda for 4 weeks in July then please put in your application before Friday 22nd February 2008.

Camara refurbish discarded computers from Irish business and send them to schools and colleges in Africa. During 2007 over 3000 computers were sent to Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Lesotho and Zambia and over 100 new computer labs were set up.

Volunteer requirements:

  • raise €2000 per person (includes training and debriefing, flights, vaccinations, insurance, internal travel and accommodation)
  • complete 50 hours in our workshop
  • complete the necessary technical, teacher and orientation training
