Minister Micheál Martin has called on Munster businesses to consider reuse of their computers, when looking at recycling options. The Minister was speaking at the launch of the Cork Branch of Camara at the Life Centre, 6 Winters Hill, Sundays Well, Cork.

Minister Micháel Martin expressed his support for the Cork Camara Hub and said  “I urge Munster businesses to consider the option of having their used computers refurbished and reused in schools in Africa when making a decision to reycycle.

Camara’s reuse policy is an innovative solution to the digital divide and Camara equipping schools in Africa with computer labs that will have a lasting impact for hundreds of thousands of African children'”.

Cormac Lynch, CEO of Camara said” that it is an important day for Camara, opening up a computer hub in Cork. Camara has sent out 10,000 refurbished computers to schools in Africa and Cork will be an important contributor to the next 10,000. Best practice for IT equipment disposal is to have it reused prior to its eventual recycling”.
