I am happy to inform everyone that the computer training, which Camara volunteers had been conducting in the Ruhuha and Nyamata sectors of the Bugesera district, concluded yesterday. The last day was an eventful one; volunteers played a football match with teachers and the game ended with volunteers losing to the local teachers. After the game; there was a small reception, time for speech from Rwandan school teachers expressing their sincere gratitude. They passed on a vote of thanks to Camara volunteers for their success in empowering education and how grateful they were for this support. In the period of a week and a half; more than 80 teachers from eight different schools in the Bugesera district were trained.
Nearly all teachers were very happy to have learnt something new in computing and they promised to pass on the skills learnt to their students and colleagues. “ Thanks for giving us an opportunity of learning- said by an IT teacher from APEBU school in Nyamata” All these words were said in presence of the top two directors of education in the district. In his speech to teachers and to the Camara staff- the director of education in the district stressed the importance of putting these computers to good use and he promised Camara that schools who have already received computers will use them for teaching purposes only. He again re-affirmed his office’s support in extending ICT into more schools in the district since the government is committed to improving ICT in the country.
I will make a quarterly report and send it as well.
Wishing you a happy week,
