We received 74 computers and 31 monitors from UCD on Thursday 28th Feb. A big thank you to all in the UCDVO team for their invaluable help in receiving, collecting and loading this IT equipment on the DHL truck for delivery to Camara. Each reusable computer will provide digital literacy skills for 21 students from disadvantaged communities. Each donor will receive a certificate of data erasure (that meets US Department of Defence standard 5220.22m) with the make, model and serial of number of each computer. Camara plan to be on site in UCD again on Wednesday May 29th for another computer drop off event.
So all UCD Departments should avoid recycling their older computers and instead retain them for the next reuse drop off event on May 29th. Every computer makes a difference to the education of Tanzanian students who would otherwise not have access to a computer.
Over the 2 last drop off days in UCD, Camara received 193 computers and 90 monitors. Lets continue the good work together and spread the word to get other organisations and individuals to donate computers to Camara.
