Soumaila has just completed a 6 month volunteer placement at the Camara workshop. The entire team wishes him the best of luck for the future!

My name is Soumaila and I did a six month workshop placement with Camara. I met great people during my time here.

I began my placement in January and learnt a number of tasks in the workshop, including testing PCs, laptops, servers and printers. I mainly focussed on upgrading hardware specification and recovering computer components which helped to improve my computer maintenance skills. I received tremendous support from all staff members and volunteers. My production manager was very helpful and my supervisor assisted and guided me through my placement, helping me overcome any difficult tasks that I encountered.

After three months, I began to really understand and engage in the production and manufacturing processes of the Camara workshop. I was taking initiative and was given the added responsibility of helping new volunteers. I was put in charge of the workshop’s daily management and organisation, meaning I learnt processes quickly and contributed to overall production. I managed my time and prioritised task execution to meet deadlines.

Camara is an excellent place to learn how to fix PCs as well as develop your personal and professional skills. It gives a deep knowledge of computer architecture, PC maintenance and upgrading software to a computer network.

At the end of my placement we had a barbecue – everybody was happy and enjoyed it! Many thanks to the entire staff, I appreciate the culture of Camara business and the people are very nice and helpful. 🙂
