The Camara team enjoyed seeking pledges at the Web Summit!

Camara has achieved its target of 5,000 computer pledges to help improve the education of 100,000 disadvantaged children, thanks to all the organisations and individuals who supported the ‘Pledge IT to Educate’ campaign.  The largest donation came from ESB Electric Ireland who pledged 2,500 computers. Other significant contributions came from  Ryanair, EMC, DAA, Aviva and Certus, whose support is greatly valued.

The Pledge IT campaign began in the week leading up to the Dublin Web Summit 2013, an event at which the Camara team exhibited and CEO John Fitzsimons spoke at.  The Summit was attended by ten thousand technology professionals from across the globe and several participants responded to Camara’s call  to pledge  IT equipment.

The final pledge, that brought it over the line, came from Peats, the iconic electronic retailer that closed its doors for the last time earlier this year.  Former owner Ben Peat said: ‘We’re absolutely delighted our computers will be reused by Camara to give kids around the world access to technology and a better education.’
