Camara Ireland have taken the exciting step of launching their first online course – “Using Freeware in the Classroom”. This course is an excellent resource for educators around the world to integrate technology into teaching. This course shows teachers how to source, download and use Freeware (free software) for use in the classroom or other educational settings.
“This is an exciting move for us. It opens up the reach of Camara Ireland across the country” said Nicole Mullen, Camara Ireland Training Officer. “We will now be able to further deliver on our vision of high quality education through technology and training, without the constraints of distance from schools and education centers being a barrier” .
The course is easy to follow, and packed full of content in an easy to assimilate format. Teachers will benefit from the course by gaining a new skill set that will be relevant and directly useful in a classroom setting. It will help them to engage with their students and facilitate their learning in new and exciting ways relevant to 21st century learning.
A few specific programmes are examined, and ideas provided on how to incorporate them into the classroom or learning environment. Programmes covered include: Audacity, Photostory 3, Freemind, Cartoon Story Maker, Scratch, Sketch Up Make, Game making software.
There are in-depth practice sessions built in to help teachers get the most from the course. For maximum benefit, It is advised that practice sessions are followed in order, to enhance your learning. The course takes on average 5 hours in total, to complete all courses, however the course can be worked through at your own pace without any time constrictions.
