Camara San Jose welcomed a special guest to its computer refurbishment hub in the run up to Saint Patrick’s Day. Oisín Quinn, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, visited Camara’s US headquarters while on a trip to the Bay Area.
The Lord Mayor’s visit to Camara came at the end of a five day trip to Northern California. The visit was organised by the San Jose- Dublin Sister City Committee to celebrate the relationship between the two cities. Along with two Dublin councillors, Mannix Flynn and Hugh McGarr, the Lord Mayor was given a tour of Camara’s offices and met our team of Silicon Valley volunteers, who were finalising the refurbishment and packing of a container of computers destined for Haiti.
The Lord Mayor was inspired by Camara’s team in San Jose and later tweeted about his visit, recognising the great work Camara is doing in supplying the developing world with reused computers.
“We were delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor’s delegation and show them some of the work that Camara has been doing”, said Blake Burke, CEO of Camara USA, “everyone really enjoyed the day” .Blake is also a member of the San Jose-Dublin Sister City Committee, which helped plan Lord Mayor Quinn’s visit.
