I think that my Irish experience could be summed up with this beautiful quote, “We are not perfect, we are learning. That’s the beauty in our specific journey.”
I took up a 5 month internship with Camara Education and wasn’t sure what to expect, except the strong feelings of curiosity, excitement and little worries that I had.
I always had a strong interest in Non-Governmental Organisations and was curious about the way they operate, but my time with Camara has been a great introduction into this sector and has truly exceeded my expectations. At first I was a bit nervous about having difficulties with the language and the tasks I would be given, I was so eager to learn and develop new skills but everything became easy as soon as I started. I also realised the beauty of working with such an amazing and dedicated team here at Camara and it was because of their care, supervision and teachings that I was able to learn a lot. From completing an invoice, setting up a training manual or conducting research about Tanzania, these are some of the tasks I now feel comfortable to fulfill once I return to Italy.
Camara is a place bursting with enthusiasm and passion, where every little challenge is an opportunity to do better. I am so grateful to have been there and it definitely was a wonderful part of my journey.
