Camara Rwanda was established in 2009 in Kigali, the capital of the country. After only a few months operating in Rwanda the Government introduced a ban on refurbished computers in June 2009. As a result, Camara was forced to downsize the Rwanda hub, similar to what happened in Uganda.
Camara Rwanda operates now as a Maintainance Hub, servicing the existing schools and institutions and providing ongoing training to it’s teachers. We are still hopeful that the ban will be lifted in the future and we can return to full service delivery of computers in education, training, local software development and maintenance.
Camara Rwanda has been recognized by the Japanese Development body, JICA as “the most innovative development project” as well as by AUS-Aid, the World Bank, the Kenyan Central Bank and many other global Institutions.
The current office is situated in Kimironko, Kigali.
