Maryam Mohamed, Ganjoni Primary School, Mombassa

Camara Education is today, on World Computer Literacy Day, launching its Christmas Learning Shop Appeal. We are asking individuals and organisations to sponsor a computer which will be sent to Kenya to be installed in an eLearning centre for disadvantaged children, giving the gift of digital literacy and transforming education through technology.

Each computer sponsored will provide 21 children in Kenya with the gift of digital literacy. So far this year, Camara has dispatched 7,616 computers to disadvantaged communities all over the world, bringing digital literacy to 159,939 people. You can support us to increase this figure and bridge the digital divide by sponsoring a computer this Christmas, for only €15/ £10/$20, through Camara’s online ‘Learning Shop’.

By sponsoring a computer you will grant children like Maryam the gift of, not only digital literacy, but of opportunity. Until recently Maryam’s school, Ganjoni Primary in Mombassa, Kenya, had no computers, thanks to Camara, her school has been fitted with 25 computers as an eLearning centre. Maryam is now computer literate and has the power to change her future.
