Camara can help your organisation achieve its sustainability and environmental targets. We align directly with many of the UN’s sustainable development goals and we believe that prolonging the life of computer equipment by refurbishing and reuse is a vital step towards sustainability and protecting the natural environment.
We have partnered with some of the world’s leading ITAD companies to provide a more sustainable way to support the circular economy. Reusing end-of-life IT equipment through Camara reduces waste and contributes to sustainability targets.
We use your computers to help create a world where even the most disadvantaged have access to technology.
Camara and our partners follow best practice when disposing of waste and recycle whenever possible with an aim to achieve zero landfill. Your data and privacy are also safe with us: our service includes end-to-end chain of custody, including logistics, data erasure and recycling, and full asset register and data erasure reporting.
We recognise the need to protect the natural environment. Our aim is to avoid waste altogether by re-using IT equipment that organisations are disposing of. However, there are times when equipment becomes faulty beyond economical repair.
In these cases our partners worldwide follow best practice when disposing of waste and recycle whenever possible with an aim to achieve zero landfill. Our ITAD partners operate Environmental Management Systems that have been certificated to ISO 14001.
In Africa, our hubs strive to become innovative leaders in e-waste management locally. We aim to create a closed loop system for all e-waste generated through our projects, and have therefore partnered with licensed local partners to ensure proper collection, disposal and recycling of all e-waste and end-of-life equipment from schools.
Camara helps you work towards more than half of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. We align in particular with numbers 4 Quality Education ‘to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’, 5 Gender Equality ‘to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls’, 9 Creating Infrastructure, 10 Reduced Inequalities and 12 Responsible Consumption and Production. By enabling young people to achieve their potential, we are also helping to work towards Nos. 1 & 2, eliminating poverty and hunger, 3, promoting health and well-being, and 8, decent work and economic growth, while our work with our African hubs and local governments and NGOs contributes to 17, the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
We work closely with Corporate Responsibility and Marketing teams to ensure positive impact from our work together. As well as recycling IT equipment, Camara can form strategic partnerships with organisations in other ways, from simple donations through to adopting your own individualised school project in Africa.
